Lily’s love & compassion for dogs was passed down by her father, who grew up on a farm, so it wasn’t a surprise that she was naturally drawn to all animals as a child. Lily would spend her time collecting photos from magazines & pasting them into a notebook or studying her Illustrated Wildlife Treasury cards by Leisure Books. As she got older, Lily knew she wanted to work with animals, but couldn’t decide which career path to take.

During her college years, Lily worked her way up at two local Chicago, IL shelters, where she learned to provide basic medical treatments as a Veterinarian Assistant & to socialize reactive dogs & feral cats with the help of the in-shelter Animal Behaviorist. Her invaluable experience was noticed by a coworker, who informed Lily of the exciting, new business of Dog Walking that was taking shape in the city. Eventually, Lily began working for Chicago’s 1st pet sitting service, learning the ropes as an Independent Contractor, then getting certified with NAPPS as a Professional Pet Sitter.
In August 1998, realizing that there was a need for walks with reactive dogs, Lily began her own dog walking service specifically to serve dogs who needed extra care & attention. She spent 12 years working in Chicago, then her love for animals & nature drew her to the Pacific Northwest where Lily moved to Portland, OR in 2010 to start anew.
After signing her 1st client in 2011, LilyPet has been growing and keeping Lily busy throughout the week – offering midday walks during the weekdays, with occasional visits during nights and weekends. Lily is also available for dog-sitting – allowing her clients’ dogs to continue enjoying the comforts of home while they’re on vacation.
During her 25+ years as a dog walker, Lily worked with several different Dog Trainers to continue her education on how to safely walk reactive dogs. Post COVID, she began focusing on Walk & Train with her current dogs, realizing a need for a daily trainer to reinforce commands in order for dogs to learn quickly & for dog parents to get into the swing of training their dog. Lily now offers Walk & Train to new clients looking for Basic Training, especially with walking your reactive dog.

“Lily is amazing! She is not only wonderful with our dog but she is super reliable and professional. She has been walking our little anxious dog daily for almost 3 years and from day 1, Lily was wonderful with her and understood what she needed. We feel so lucky that our dog is in such great hands!”

“My Boston Benny and I love Lily! My little guy has so much energy and love that it’s hard to keep him happy. Every time Lily came by for a walk, Benny just seemed calmer and happier when I got home from work. He has a sensitive tummy, and would notice with the other walkers we tried that he would have the runs after they visited (happens when he’s nervous or eats weird things outside, like cat poop!). Never with Lily. Also, I love the updates we got after every walk. I could always be sure that she came, and it was comforting to get little updates on my fur child. She really cares for your animals!!”

“Lily watched my two crazy Chihuahuas twice when I went out of town. As a protective pet parent, I was a bit nervous, but Lily’s professional and friendly demeanor calmed my anxiety. I could tell right away that she loved animals – and they adored her! She gave me a full and thorough report when I came back. Honestly, I’ve never had a better dog walker or sitter than Lily. She’s simply the best and I don’t trust my animals to anyone else.”

“I used Lily’s services as a dog walker for my dog Boo. I heard of her through a referral from another dog owner, and was so glad that decided to give her a try. My dog was big (100+ lbs), and could be quite a handful around other dogs and some people, but she handled him perfectly. She was calm and firm with him, but never failed to show him lots of affection. If distance wasn’t an issue, I’d have her caring for my new dog, too.”

“SAN ANTONIO (October 28, 2025) – A 23-year-old San Antonio woman has been sentenced to 8 years’ probation after the court found her guilty on felony animal cruelty charges this afternoon. Havanna Miller originally pled no contest to 187th District Court Judge Stephanie Boyd last month, but a plea bargain resulted in a conviction sentence. Boyd …

Our Summers are getting hotter with temps over 90°F, now starting as early as May & more frequently. After our last heatwave, I passed out from heat exhaustion due to being outdoors with my dogs for over 5 hours. Despite having ice water & Gatorade throughout the day, I was sweating profusely & became dehydrated. …
